Our cat would roam in our woods, but sadly one day she didn't come home. Needing some closure we asked around and the locals said "probably an owl". We have Great Horned Owls in our area. We did some research these formidable creatures are fearless. They remain perfectly still for hours even in extreme cold and fly at prey without making a sound. Their only real predators are larger owls. Linda began this painting to get closer to the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Maine. Linda says painting this bird was a playful and satisfying experience. The complexity of feathers and variation in color was fascinating to paint. The beauty and mystique of this supernatural bird took her to a different reality.
